COVID -19 / Coronavirus

These are alarming and frightening times for us all as a human population. During this unprecedented worldwide viral pandemic, we are still here for you and your family.

Hand Surgery Centre and Hand Therapy Centre have strict policies in place to ensure that our patients and staff are protected in accordance with current guidelines. We have changed our waiting room and consulting patterns to maintain social distancing. We require all patients and Staff to treat their hands with Hand Sanitiser prior to entering our rooms. Patients and staff must then answer questions in relation to COVID-19 exposure risk. Patient and Staff have their temperature taken and recorded.

We provide full online consultation ability using FaceTime, Skype and ZOOM. This is a service which we have been providing for many years, and have a good level of experience utilising. We can now also provide Telephone consults in accordance with the recent changes provided by the Government.

Many conditions will still require in person review in our rooms. Our policies ensure we are following strict Dept of Health and Government guidelines including regular cleaning of all surfaces, regular cleaning and sanitising of hands, screening of patients and staff, and maintaining social distancing where possible.

Changes to elective operating will affect many people, but is a necessary process to ensure health resources are preserved and available for those that need them the most.

The government has recently restored some elective operating. The type of surgery and numbers of operations that can be done are still restricted, but it is being closely reviewed and changes will occur regularly. Most elective hand operations can occur.

Unfortunately, People will still have injuries and conditions that need urgent treatment. The Medical and Surgical community are still available and ready to treat these patients. The hospitals are still available and ready to treat these patients.

No one will be denied treatment during this difficult and challenging time. Patients must trust that the Medical and Surgical community will continue to provide care whilst following guidelines regularly updated by the Government.

We are regularly updated by The Government, The Medical Board, The AMA and our Medical and Surgical specialty boards. Most questions that patients have about treatment can and will be answered by our dedicated and professional Staff.

Please stay safe during these difficult times. Please feel free to contact our offices for advice and treatment of your Hand conditions. As always, we will strive to provide you with the highest level of care.
